Rotary Drum Granulator
The High-Capacity Workhorse for Continuous, Large-Scale Fertilizer Production
The Rotary Drum Granulator is the cornerstone of high-volume fertilizer plants. This robust, inclined rotating drum utilizes a gentle tumbling and coating action to transform moist powder blends into dense, spherical granules. Renowned for its reliability, scalability, and consistent output, it is the preferred choice for continuous production of NPK compounds, organic fertilizers, and soil amendments.

Basic Structure & Components
The core cylindrical shell, slightly inclined, lined with wear-resistant material and fitted with internal lifting flights.
Support the drum’s weight and allow it to rotate smoothly on supporting rollers.
Consists of a motor, reducer, and pinion gear to provide stable rotation.
Prevent the drum from axial movement during operation.
Channels the pre-mixed moist material into the drum head.
Guides the finished granules out of the drum and into the next process stage.
Minimizes dust leakage at the drum inlet and outlet points.
Internal nozzles for adding liquid binders or steam during the process.

Key Differentiators vs. Other Granulators
- vs. Disc Granulator
- vs. Extrusion Granulator
- vs. Spray Rotary Dryer-Granulator
- vs. Gear Shaping Granulator
Offers significantly higher continuous throughput and is better sealed for dust control, whereas the disc is more open and suited for batch or medium-scale, flexible production.
Produces smooth, spherical granules through agglomeration, unlike the sharp-edged, cylindrical pellets from extrusion. It is also better for moist blends rather than dry powders.
Designed for pre-moistened solid powders, not liquid slurries. It is a pure granulator that typically requires a separate dryer upstream.
Focuses on high-capacity, spherical granule production from standard fertilizer mixes, whereas the gear shaping unit is for special shapes and often handles stickier, organic-based materials.
