Rotary Drum Granulator

The High-Capacity Workhorse for Continuous, Large-Scale Fertilizer Production

The Rotary Drum Granulator is the cornerstone of high-volume fertilizer plants. This robust, inclined rotating drum utilizes a gentle tumbling and coating action to transform moist powder blends into dense, spherical granules. Renowned for its reliability, scalability, and consistent output, it is the preferred choice for continuous production of NPK compounds, organic fertilizers, and soil amendments.

Key Features

  • High-Volume Processing

Engineered for continuous 24/7 operation with capacities ranging from several to over 50 tons per hour.

  • Gentle Granulation Principle

Material adheres and grows through a rolling and cascading motion, producing strong, rounded granules with minimal dust.

  • Robust Drum Construction

Built with heavy-duty steel plate, internal lifting flights, and reinforced riding rings for long-term durability under abrasive conditions.

  • Flexible Process Adaptation

Can be easily integrated with upstream mixing and downstream drying/cooling drums in a seamless production line.

  • Adjustable Inclination & Speed

The drum's angle and rotation speed are adjustable to control retention time and optimize granule size.

Advantages

  • Unmatched Capacity

Ideal for large-scale fertilizer manufacturing requiring high, steady throughput.

  • Proven & Reliable Technology

Simple mechanical principle ensures low operational complexity and high uptime.

  • Excellent Granule Strength

Produces hard, abrasion-resistant granules suitable for long-distance transport and bulk handling.

  • Wide Formulation Compatibility

Effectively granulates a broad range of powder mixtures with appropriate moisture content.

  • Ease of Maintenance

Straightforward design allows for easy access and replacement of internal components like liners and flights.

  • High Tolerance for Fines/Recycle

Excellently handles a high percentage of internal recycle material (screen undersize), which is critical for stable plant mass balance and efficiency.

  • Low Maintenance & Operational Simplicity

Simple mechanical principle leads to easy operation, minimal downtime, and straightforward maintenance.

Applicable Raw Materials

  • NPK Compound Fertilizer Blends

The standard choice for large-scale production of granular NPK fertilizers.

  • Ammonium-Based Powders

Such as ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, and DAP/MAP.

  • Organic & Bio-organic Mixtures

Compost powders, manure solids, and blended organic-mineral mixes with suitable binder.

  • Potassium Chloride/Sulfate

    For producing granular potash fertilizers.

  • Powdered Limestone & Gypsum

    For soil amendment granules.

Key Differentiators vs. Other Granulators

Offers significantly higher continuous throughput and is better sealed for dust control, whereas the disc is more open and suited for batch or medium-scale, flexible production.

Produces smooth, spherical granules through agglomeration, unlike the sharp-edged, cylindrical pellets from extrusion. It is also better for moist blends rather than dry powders.

Designed for pre-moistened solid powders, not liquid slurries. It is a pure granulator that typically requires a separate dryer upstream.

Focuses on high-capacity, spherical granule production from standard fertilizer mixes, whereas the gear shaping unit is for special shapes and often handles stickier, organic-based materials.
